Summit Group Partners was engaged to develop a strategy to jump start a 60 year old business which had stalled. After a thorough analysis of the markets, competitors and the company’s strategic strengths and weaknesses a growth profile was envisioned. From this new growth platform came a three year strategic plan to move growth from minimal to double digit annually through the introduction of new products, opening new markets and investing in additional marketing efforts. In addition a national accounts program was launched to drive increased share from customers who the company was generating less than 10% of the potential revenue opportunity within the customer. By the end of the 1st year, the company was able to drive new revenues from existing customers on an annual run rate of over $12 million and total revenues were growing at an annual rate of 10%.

Summit Group Partners was engaged as Chief Transformation Officer to lead the plan development of a complete transformation to a new business model for a billion dollar entity. This plan was implemented over a 12 month period and transformed the business model in support of the new vision of the Chairman. Subsequently the company became a leader in outsourced procurement services for all brand related spend for many fortune 500 companies. This transformation also brought about streamlined operations resulting in savings of $30 million annually.

Holding Company of Print Services Businesses

Summit Group Partners was engaged to lead the outsourcing of the corporate development function to position the company for a successful SPAC. To achieve the desired results, a number of acquisitions needed to be identified, negotiated and closed. Two acquisitions were completed with two additional acquisitions ready to close when the financial crisis of 2008 occurred thus shutting down the market for funding. The Summit Group Partners team lead the identification of target companies, the due diligence process, price and APA negotiations, and integration planning leading up to the closing. In addition, Summit Group Partners supported management’s efforts to secure the SPAC through financial modeling and road show material development. Management had the required votes identified to close the SPAC prior to the market collapse.

Skilled Nursing Facility

Summit Group Partners was engaged as CRO for a chain of nursing homes in upstate NY and led them through the Chapter 11 process. Under Summit’s leadership, occupancy increased nearly 10%, new management was hired and the business returned to profitability within the 1st year after two years of losses totaling in excess of $8 million. The company successfully exited bankruptcy. Summit Group Partners negotiated a new lending facility and a restructuring of payments owed to the state of NY which positioned the home for long tern viability

Indian Gaming Casinos

Summit Group Partners was hired to facilitate the restructuring of $45 million in debt over three loans for two Native American owned casinos in the Pacific NW. The engagement was complex given that over 35 banks were involved in the consortium along with the uniqueness of working in Indian Country. As a result of the negotiations, the Summit Group Partners team created nearly $10 million in value for one casino which freed up over $300 thousand per month in cash flow. The lenders on the second casino have agreed to a significant write down of the debt which will allow the Tribe to stabilize and grow both businesses.
